What does "Telecommuting" mean?

Telecommuting is a synonym of remote work. It's sometimes seen as a dated alternative to remote work, that focuses more on the lack of a commute (similar to a flex day or Work From Home) than getting work done with a distributed team.

As per Wikipedia, Telecommuting can also be seen as the process of checking e-mails, taking calls or doing meetings from home or from a vacation and was coined as a term in the early '90s.
