Home / Glossary & FAQ / Distributed
There are different definitions of what makes a remote team "remote". Distributed is one of these terms which is often used ambiguously for a range of different setups.
We call a team or company "distributed" if their work is not being conducted at a single location. This may either mean that teams are working across office locations, that there are remote workers who are collaborating with each other or with people in a head office.
Alternatively, we can call an "all-remote" team distributed or fully distributed, meaning that there is no head office, and workers are instead completely location independent.
